Hajime Sorayama

Designer of Sony’s AIBO, Hajime Sorayama is most famous for his “gynoid” paintings which have become a favourite for many disco fans. Although his most celebrated book, Sexy Robot, was published in 1983, Sorayama had begun his fascination with female robots in the late 70s.

His designs inspired this Italian commercial for Lancia; it doesn’t really hit the mark, but it’s interesting to imagine it against Chris Cunningham’s video for ‘All Is Full Of Love’.
