Donna Summer
Phuture’s ‘Acid Trax’ is often credited as being the first acid house track, but a decade earlier Donna Summer had released the Moroder/Bellotte-produced, ‘Our Love’. At the chorus you’ll recognise the beat which was later copied for New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’, but wait until the last 30 seconds and you will hear the blueprint for acid house.
I was given this video by a friend a couple of years ago and I uploaded it earlier this year: Donna Summer performing at Studio 54. The future at its most sensual.
‘I Feel Love’, 1977
