‘It’s That East Street Beat’

Well… after that mammoth André Cymone post, something simple. Here’s a disco gem from 1985 by Chocolette. This is the “vocal club” mix which is essentially an instrumental. Mixed by Timmy Regisford and Boyd Jarvis, this was originally released on the Brooklyn label, Supertronics, but is easier to find on Atlantic Records. It’s the drums that really make this; everything else is kept to a minimum but they add touches to keep it alive, and the vocals that do come in at the end are just the icing on the cake.

Regisford and Jarvis also produced the classic, ‘The Music Got Me’, which is the earliest house record ever… but more on that controversial statement another time.
