Central Line

Along with Conny Plank, Thomas Dolby and the Willesden Dodgers, Roy Carter was part of the team who produced Whodini’s 1983 album. But most of his work was for the group Central Line, an outfit from London most famous for their 1981 track, ‘Walking Into Sunshine’, which was a big hit for Larry Levan. The Carter-produced track posted here, ‘Conviction’, is a rare instrumental from 1983; it has that magic mix of electro, disco and funk that just always works and seems to make this kind of track sound so effortless… but there aren’t many people able to make tracks like this anymore.
